Where Are All These Hybrid Cars Anyway? (Hybrid car stats)

May 16th, 2008

Tip! The history of hybrid cars runs back to the time when inventors were strongly battling to switch over from steam-powered automobiles to electrically driven carriages. At best, these could be termed as trials and were limited to working with just one, two or few models.

Where are all the fuel efficient cars that we have been promised. There are now great tax incentives for consumers to buy hybrid cars, but there are also waiting lists at many car dealerships. Both Honda and Toyota have waiting lists for their top-selling hybrid cars. At Ford Motor Co. they will roll out more mini Escape SUVs, which will be able to run E85 ethanol in 2007 and 2008.

But even so we can expect higher gasoline prices due to disruptions in supply from international terrorist attacks in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Additionally the showdown with Iran over the nuclear weapons manufacturing is problematic for OPEC and crude oil supplies. Venezuela which is an oil producing nation has made deals to sell much of its oil to China. And all this is taking place before the 2006 Atlantic tropical hurricane season even starts and it you sure to be a big one.

Tip! All hybrid cars normally shut the gasoline engine off during road signals so as to conserve fuel reserve. The phenomenon is called idle stop characteristics.

Can we wait for these hybrid cars for two more years? If oil prices continue to go up we could be paying four dollars and even higher for gasoline. The higher oil prices will take its toll on the American family and consumer. Where are all these hybrid cars anyway? We need more and sooner then later. Consider this 2006.

Tip! For younger generation, the hybrid cars are something trendy. For environmental services, they mean less pollution.
